What’s not to love about content tied to a holiday, whether it be National Guacamole Day (a personal favorite), a national or state holiday, or some other special day. It’s a no brainer on the consumer side; though perhaps for some, less obvious on the B2B side. But I really love it when B2B companies embrace the more personal and fun side, while still communicating useful content. Thus, I was so pleased with software company Pegasystems‘ holiday content: This Valentine’s Day, Two New Questions That Will Make CMOs and CIOs BFFs
First of all…BFF? Awesome use of the acronym. It’s not a typical term in the B2B world, let alone the software industry. But I really love that right there in the title, you get a feel for the tone of the article. Let’s not take it all so seriously, it says. And the term works precisely because it’s unexpected. Not only in a B2B context, but also because anyone who knows a CIO or CMO knows how hard it can be to bridge the chasm between those two worlds because of their different approaches to the business.
This post gets it just right:
- Lighthearted tone, appropriate for the holiday and the topic.
- Short and sweet (435 words).
- Just two questions, as promised. And two powerful questions at that: What are we doing to improve customer experience? and How will big data impact our business? Everyone in the C-suite should be asking these questions, but they are particularly relevant to the CIO and CMO.
- Not salesy at all. This is all about education and information.
- A fun call to action: write a poem for your CMO or CIO and send it in for a chance to win a box of chocolates!
- Nice touch with the poems (which I’ve stolen to use as the graphic for this post because I like it so much; Thanks Pegasystems).
Dare I say…this post is one more thing to love on Valentine’s Day.
Do you agree? What are your thoughts on holiday related content in the B2B space? Yay or nay?
